·       Foundational Development: At any stage or age, foundational development should be fortified whenever possible. NorthStar Tutoring Services does not ignore any foundational weakness no matter how "insignificant" it may seem. Working hard to develop a strong foundation from the very beginning is the key to reaching new heights in the future.

·       Repetition: The majority of students need repetition to understand concepts well. We give and encourage students to do additional practice besides just completing his/her homework. 

·       Work habits: If a person works as hard as he does from the beginning to the very end, success is certain. NorthStar Tutoring Services imparts work ethics as the key to success from the first lesson.

·       Exploration: NorthStar Tutoring Services promotes and supports personal exploration and development. We encourage students to learn from past mistakes, and develop alternative methods that work well for them. Additionally, whether it's doing homework or preparing for tests, the answers are never just "given". Students will always be taught the "how" and "why" of each answer.

·       Progress: Standing still should never be an option. We push students to achieve, learn, and improve each day.

​​1-on-OneConnect is a unique and simple online method that incorporates both the sights and sounds essential for a one-on-one session. NorthStar seamlessly integrates an online whiteboard with sounds; both the student and tutor will be able to simultaneously and instantaneously see and hear each other. 1-on-OneConnect set-up takes under 3 minutes to complete and is no less effective than meeting in person. In fact, all notes from the session can be saved on the whiteboard, which allow students to focus on the lesson.

NorthStar's goal is to provide technology and methodologies that are efficient and effective for students learning. 1-onOneConnect has proven that one-on-one tutoring online can be as effective as, or more effective than, meeting in person for many students. 

NorthStar's tutors are vigorously evaluated and trained. Each tutor must meet the following minimum requirements:  ​​

o   ALL AP or Advanced courses: tutors must have experience of at least 5 years tutoring the course OR have a current teaching certificate with a minimum of 1 year of experience teaching OR have a PhD in the same field. 

o   Non-AP courses: tutors must have experience of at least 3 years tutoring the course OR have a current teaching certificate.

Each tutor is well versed in his/her craft and does not need to reference your child's notes or book's notes prior to tutoring your child. NorthStar's tutors are effective and efficient. 

· AP Calculus AB/BC

· AP Statistics

· IB Calculus

· AP Physics/Biology/Chemistry

· All non-AP or non-IB courses (Biology, chemistry, pre-calculus, algebra 2...etc)

*AP and IB year-end test prep is also available. Availability is limited. Please contact NorthStar at least FOUR MONTHS prior to June 1st of each academic year.
